There are a number of reasons why we have decided to enhance our building:

• Our mission is to ‘open our doors widely’
• Our current resources are filling up
• We received a vision to create an inviting space on the high street

In addition there are a number of aspects within the building we can improve and create a facility for the future:

• make all areas accessible to all
• provide toilet facilities to meet everyone’s needs , e.g. Changing Spaces
• reach, as close as we can, carbon neutral status including high specification of insulation
• have a micro generation system to generate our own electricity

We are working with Ainsley Gommon, a local architect, to create  proposed floor plans based on our perception of what is needed.  We have held a public consultation which has confirmed the activities and space needed by the community – now reflected in the plans. The architect will take us to the point where we have building plans, planning permission and project costings. In the meantime we will continue to work with Flintshire Local Voluntary Council (FLVC) and prospective funders to move to the building phase.
