Prayer Suggestions

There are so many different ways that we can connect with God throughout our daily lives.

One way is through prayer, as praying gives you an opportunity to start an ongoing dialogue and loving relationship with God and allows God to have an influence on your life.

Some of the members here at Rivertown have shared that these prayers below are ones that they have found particularly helpful and useful.

So we share them here in the hope that they might be helpful and useful for you too.

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
and Wisdom to know the difference.Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as He did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that He will make all things right,
If I surrender to His will,
That I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with Him forever in the next.

Amen.

May God give you…

For every storm, a rainbow;

for every tear a smile,

for every care a promise

and a blessing in each trial.

For every problem that life sends,

a faithful friend to share,

for every sigh, a sweet song.

and an answer in each prayer.

Amen

The LIGHT of GOD surrounds me

The LOVE of GOD enfolds me

The POWER of GOD protects me

The PRESENCE of GOD watches over me

Wherever I am GOD IS

On my bad days I seek you,

in my good days I thank you,

on my great days I praise you,

but every day I need you.

Thank you God for always being here for me.

Dearest Lord, teach me to be generous;

teach me to serve you as you deserve,

to give and not count the cost,

to fight and not heed the wounds,

to toil and not seek for rest,

to labour and not seek reward,

save that of knowing that I do your will.

Amen

Make me an instrument of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me sow love.

Where there is injury, pardon.

Where there is doubt, faith.

Where there is despair, hope.

Where there is darkness, light.

Where there is sadness, joy.

Amen
