Traidcraft

Traidcraft is the UK’s largest Fair Trade organisation, established in 1979, consisting of a trading company with sales of over £10 million a year and a charity with income of over £2 million a year. Together they fight poverty through trade. The trading company provides vital income for producers from 31 countries and the charity works to break down barriers that prevent the poor from gaining access to markets.

Traidcraft specialises in offering customers a vibrant and diverse range of products from across the world – as individual and varied as the producers who create them, and sell fine foods, handmade paper and cards, gifts for all the family, home furnishings, and fashion, jewellery and accessories. Traidcraft works with volunteers called Fair Traders and their work accounts for half of the turnover for the trading company, Traidcraft Plc, helping to improve the lives of its producers overseas. Traidcraft is a Christian based organisation, committed to working with all people to offer producers and their families hope for a better future. If you would like to further details about the people behind the products log on to www.traidcraft.co.uk

Fairtrade

Rivertown is a now a fair trade church and was awarded this status in February 2004. In order to achieve this status the church agreed to serve fair trade tea and coffee at all its meetings and to actively promote Fairtrade Fortnight both in church and in the local community.

We have a fair trade stall offering a wide range of fair trade goods from Traidcraft, and this is open after services each Sunday. Tea and coffee is also served at the weekly coffee mornings on Thursdays.

The church is also represented on the Flintshire Fairtrade Coalition and our membership were delighted when on Friday 19th November 2004, Flintshire finally achieved the status of being a fair trade County. Together with representatives of other churches, schools, politicians, members of local governments, work places and aid organisations, we were presented with our Certificates. These certificates are proudly displayed in the church.
